What amazing stamina these children have! They walked over 20,000 steps today! After doing so well overnight on the bus, watching "Maleficent" and "Muppets: Most Wanted," the kids hit Montreal. Ready or not, here they come. :)
First, they filled up on the bountiful hotel breakfast. Then, the group of 50+ quickly developed a routine to successfully board and get off the Metro without losing anyone. Slowly and surely wins the race.
After joining up with Quinn, who had met us at the hotel, and Daniel, who drove from Toronto to meet the group later this morning, we all headed into the Notre Dame Cathedral, with different parts of it appealing to each of them. Of particular interest was the chapel at the Cathedral's rear, with its wood decor.
A very quick lunch at Place Jacques-Cartier followed, then underground into the Archaeological Museum, where very informative guides helped us learn the different waves of Montreal history.
Back on the Metro to return to the hotel before making a long walk to the Olympic Stadium to watch Brazil v. Spain. It took a massive effort on the part of the kids to get into their seats in time to enjoy the second half of the game. Our seats gave us the perfect vantage point to watch numerous goal attempts by the strong Brazilian attack saved by the targeted Spanish goalie.
More walking before dinner at a fancyish restaurant. Then, a drive up to the top of Mont Royal for a view of lit-up Montreal by night.
The kids were pushed to the limit and beyond in the past 24 hours, and they have been rock solid.
